International Migration and the Global Fund support health in Yemen with medical equipment worth $2 million

The International Organization for Migration announced that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health and Population, and the Global Fund, on Thursday, it launched the delivery of vital medical equipment to strengthen the health system in Yemen at a value amounting to two million dollars.

The organization said in a statement, “The equipment was delivered in the presence of high-level representatives from the government health sector inside the International Organization for Migration’s warehouses in Aden, and this achievement is a major step towards addressing the urgent health challenges in the country.”

According to the statement, “The medical equipment granted through this initiative, valued at approximately $2 million, includes two mobile X-ray carts equipped with portable X-ray machines equipped with artificial intelligence technology, 20 blood gas analyzers, 30 intravenous injection machines, and 2,200 An oxygen cylinder and 40 respirators.

He stated that this equipment will be distributed to hospitals and public health facilities throughout Yemen, with a special focus on supporting patients in intensive care units.

The statement explained that this advanced equipment is expected to significantly enhance health care delivery by improving treatment, enabling accurate diagnosis, and contributing to improving public health outcomes in the country.

“By providing advanced medical equipment and supporting key health programmes, we are strengthening our commitment to improving health outcomes for the most vulnerable groups,” said Matt Haber, Acting Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Yemen.

He added: “Our partnership with the Global Fund and the Ministry of Public Health and Population confirms our commitment not only to meeting immediate needs, but also to strengthening Yemen’s healthcare infrastructure in the long term.”

Yemen is experiencing a severe health crisis, with about 17.8 million people in need of health assistance. Only 50 percent of hospitals across the country are fully or partially functioning, and many face challenges such as staff shortages, lack of supplies, and outdated equipment.

These problems are exacerbated by frequent power outages and financial constraints, which significantly hamper the delivery of basic health care services to more than 20 million people.
