On Tuesday, an educator died under torture in the prisons of the terrorist Houthi militia, months after his kidnapping in the capital, Sana’a, which is under its control.

According to human rights sources, the family of the educational professor, Mohammed Naji Khammash, the Director General of Basic and Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education, who was kidnapped in the Houthi militia prisons, received a notification from the Houthi militia on Tuesday that he had died at the place of his kidnapping.

The sources reported that the Houthi militia kidnapped Professor "Khammash" months ago as part of a wave of kidnappings targeting senior Yemeni education cadres in Sana'a, and threw them into its prisons.

Professor Khammash and a number of educational leaders were accused by the Houthis of spreading atheism in school curricula, such as the phrase “rain falls from the sky.” They were considered spies, agents, and Zionists, but none of them were brought to trial.

According to human rights activist, Riyadh Al-Dabai, the death of educational expert Muhammad Khammash in the prisons of the Houthi Security and Intelligence Service after his arrest since June 2024 in mysterious circumstances raises fears that he was subjected to torture and ill-treatment.

He pointed out that Khammash's death comes after the death of his colleagues, "Sabri Abdullah Al-Hakimi and Hisham Al-Hakimi," also in Houthi prisons.

Meanwhile, other experts, including Mujib Dabwan al-Mikhlafi and Mohammed al-Mikhlafi, have been abducted for more than a year, noting that this incident highlights the gross human rights violations and systematic targeting of academics and experts without any real accountability for their actions.
