Today, the Teachers Union in Taiz Governorate called on the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, to quickly disburse teachers’ salaries for the month of June, and to disburse a cost-of-living allowance to suit the continuing rise in prices.

This came in a statement from the union, a copy of which was obtained by Yemen Shabab Net, noting that indications indicate that the salary for June 2024 will perhaps be delayed until after the middle of next week.

The union’s statement considered this delay to be “an annoying issue for educators and their families, most of whom depend on this salary despite its meagerness, as it does not meet their urgent necessary needs of (food, drink, medicine, and housing), so what if it is delayed.”

The union called on the governor to communicate and address the relevant authorities in the temporary capital (Aden) in order to quickly disburse the salary for the month of June 2024, especially since this salary comes after the blessed Eid al-Adha, and many educators have borrowed more than their salaries to meet the needs of their families on the holiday.

I also called on the government, through you, to pay a cost-of-living allowance commensurate with the steady rise in the prices of essential goods and the decline in the purchasing value of the national currency.
