Oxfam's Country Director in Yemen, Fran Boch, said on Tuesday that Marib Governorate is at the forefront of interest and priority in the organization's projects, as it is the most needy in Yemen.

This came during a meeting with the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Dr. Abdul Rabbo Miftah, who discussed Oxfam's interventions and its current and upcoming projects in all areas in the governorate, according to the governorate's official website.

During the meeting, Butch explained that his organization will continue to implement its projects and will work to increase the volume of interventions if the necessary funding is available and to work in the future according to the local authority’s response plan, appreciating its cooperation in overcoming difficulties and facilitating the organization’s work and projects in the governorate.

For his part, Undersecretary Miftah reviewed the deteriorating humanitarian and living conditions of the displaced in the governorate due to the long period of war and the decline in the level of support provided by international organizations.

He stressed the importance of continuing and expanding the organization's interventions and projects, in addition to supporting the executive offices and the executive unit for managing the displaced persons camps and helping them to play their role in alleviating the suffering of the displaced.

Undersecretary Miftah praised Oxfam's efforts and projects implemented during the past period, which contributed to providing part of the need in the water and services sector for the displaced and the host community.

He pointed out the importance of strengthening partnership, coordination and cooperation between the organization and the local authority to help alleviate the suffering of the local community and meet the most important humanitarian needs.

It is noteworthy that Marib Governorate is considered the largest gathering of displaced people in Yemen, as its population has so far reached 3 million, 59 thousand, and 752 people, including 2 million, 134 thousand, and 497 displaced men and women, and 531,003 host communities, according to local authority statistics.
