On Sunday, a court in Aden convicted the former leader of the Transitional Council's Security Belt, Alaa Al-Mashriqi, and his companions in the case of the murder of the young man "Amir Al-Kaldi."

A source who attended the court session said, “The Sira Primary Court held a session headed by Judge Nizar Mohammed Al-Samman, and the ruling convicted the former commander of the eastern sector of the Security Belt, Alaa Al-Mashriqi, and his companions, of causing the death of Al-Kaldi by mistake.”

The ruling condemned the former leader of the Transitional Forces, "Alaa Abdul Karim Al-Mashriqi", and his companions, namely: (Osama Nabil Ahmed Ali, Ahmed Omar Ahmed Mohammed Maqram, Abdul Latif Abdullah Ali Nasr, and Omar Saeed Salem Abdullah), for causing the death of the victim, "Amir Mahdar Mohammed Al-Kaldi", according to the source.

The court rejected the plea submitted by the defendants’ lawyer, claiming that the indictment was invalid, and also rejected the request submitted by the victim’s heirs to amend the description given to the defendants from manslaughter to premeditated murder.

The court sentenced the five convicts to pay each of them the blood money of a wrongful man (i.e. paying five blood moneys) to the victim’s family, taking into account the difference in purchasing power between the time of its estimation and its payment. The court also sentenced the five accused to three years.

The court ordered all convicts to pay an amount of ten million Yemeni riyals to the heirs of the victim, Amir Al-Kaldi, as compensation for the material and moral damages they suffered as a result of the crime, in addition to repairing the bus that the victim was on from all the damages that occurred to it.

In contrast, after the ruling was issued, the two parties to the criminal dispute announced their appeal of the ruling after it was pronounced, according to the same source.

The young man, Amir Al-Kaldi, was killed in late June 2023, while he was in his car near a security checkpoint of those forces in the Al-Arish area, east of the city of Aden.
