On Friday, the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in the Qatari capital, Doha, witnessed the funeral prayer over the body of the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and his bodyguard, Waseem Abu Shaaban.

Member of the Hamas Political Bureau, Khalil Al-Hayya, led thousands of worshipers in the funeral prayer for Haniyeh and his guard, which witnessed the presence of thousands, before his body was buried in the Lusail cemetery.

Earlier Friday, Muhammad Hassan Al-Muraikhi, the Friday preacher that Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani witnessed in the same mosque, called for mercy on Ismail Haniyeh, and to accept him as a “martyr.”

During the funeral ceremony, Khaled Meshal, head of Hamas abroad, said in a speech that Haniyeh "lived among his people in the Beach Camp in Gaza City, feeling the pain of his people and sharing their joys."

Mishal added that Haniyeh "served his cause, his people, and Jerusalem. He served it as a mujahid, a preacher, and memorizer of the Holy Quran. He served the cause as prime minister, and he was among his people and did not lag behind them," stressing that Haniyeh "did not leave Gaza except to fight for his cause throughout the world."
