More than 400 people have been killed in northern Gaza in two weeks, while the UN Humanitarian Coordinator confirmed on Saturday that Palestinians are suffering "indescribable horrors" in the besieged northern Gaza Strip.

“Horrific news from northern Gaza where Palestinians continue to suffer unspeakable horrors under the blockade imposed by Israeli forces,” Acting Humanitarian Coordinator Joyce Msuya said in a post on the X platform. “These atrocities must stop.”

"People in Jabalia are trapped under the rubble, and rescue workers are being prevented from reaching them," she said.

“Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been forcibly displaced. Essential supplies are running out. Hospitals have been hit and are overwhelmed with patients,” Msouya continued.

Joyce Msuya recalled that under international humanitarian law, civilians, the wounded and sick, health-care workers and health facilities must be protected. “International humanitarian law must be respected,” she added.

400 martyrs in two weeks

The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced today, Saturday, the martyrdom of more than 400 Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip in the past two weeks, since the Israeli occupation army launched a campaign of genocide targeting the besieged north.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal confirmed to Agence France-Presse that more than 400 martyrs have been killed in various targeted areas in the northern Gaza Strip governorate, which includes Jabalia and its camp, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun, since the start of the occupation army's military operation on October 6.

The North Gaza Governorate is being subjected to an Israeli campaign of extermination and siege for the 15th consecutive day, through the bombing of homes and shelters, the demolition, destruction and burning of entire residential neighborhoods, in addition to preventing the entry of food, water and medicine into the area, amid humanitarian and health conditions that Palestinian officials describe as catastrophic.

In the same context, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today that the death toll from the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinians has risen to 42,519 martyrs and 99,637 wounded, since October 7, 2023.

She explained that the Israeli army committed about 3 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours, with about 19 martyrs and 91 injuries arriving at hospitals.

The ministry indicated that there were a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads, and noted that ambulance and civil defense crews were unable to reach them.

In addition to the dead and wounded, the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip left thousands missing, massive destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure, and a deadly famine, especially in the north, that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

On Friday, UNICEF spokesman James Elder said, "Conservative estimates put the number of children killed in Gaza at more than 14,100."

"Gaza is the true embodiment of hell on earth for the one million children there. And the situation is getting worse," he added.

In disregard of the international community, Israel continues its massacres in Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
