Yahya Al-Sinwar

Israeli writer Ben Dror Yemini confirmed today, Tuesday, that the head of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza, Yahya Al-Sinwar, achieved everything he wanted from the war and is running what he described as a “chess game” with amazing success against Israel, indicating that Tel Aviv must accept a settlement deal. With movement.

The writer explained - in an article published in Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper - that Sinwar wanted to re-present the Palestinian issue internationally, delegitimize the existence of Israel, thwart Saudi Arabia’s normalization with Tel Aviv, and weaken American-Israeli relations, and he achieved all of that.

He said that as a result, Israel must accept a settlement deal with Hamas, otherwise it will “deepen its failure,” in light of the inability to achieve absolute victory and its declared goals of the war, as he put it.

"Two versions of Netanyahu"

Speaking about the deal proposal, the Israeli writer said that Tel Aviv is dealing with “two versions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” explaining that the proposal presented by US President Joe Biden at the end of last May includes a ceasefire based on Netanyahu’s recommendations.

He added that Netanyahu, however, publicly opposes the ceasefire for political purposes, and is thus “in conflict with himself,” calling on the Israeli Prime Minister to accept the deal because “the alternative to it is worse,” according to his description.

He added that the alternative to the deal is the continuation of Israeli losses through the killing of soldiers and the inability of the displaced to return to their homes around the Gaza Strip and northern Israel, in addition to economic losses and a decline in the Israeli position internationally.

He stressed that all the tactical successes the Israeli army achieves in Gaza “soon turn into a strategic success for Hamas,” noting that there is no point in continuing the war and must end by accepting the deal, even if it is bad, because it means a victory for Hamas, according to the writer.

Despite reports of progress in negotiations over the past few days, Netanyahu said last Sunday that Israel is committed during the deal discussions to “returning to fighting until all the goals of the war are achieved,” and preventing the return of what he described as “militants” to northern Gaza.

Hamas opposes the Israeli demand for the possibility of returning to fighting, demanding a permanent ceasefire, in addition to its demand for the return of the displaced to the northern Gaza Strip.
