Aden.. The General Telecommunications Corporation announces the launch of the official experimental phase of the Starlink satellite internet service

The Executive Director General of the General Corporation for Wired and Wireless Telecommunications in the interim capital, Aden, Eng. Wael Tarmoum, announced today, Sunday, the start of launching the official experimental phase of the Starlink service (satellite internet) in the liberated governorates, to evaluate the service by a joint technical team from the corporation and Starlink Company to ensure the quality of the high-speed satellite internet service.

Engineer Tarmoum said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that this step comes under the supervision of the Acting Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Waed Badhib, after the Communications Corporation and Starlink Company completed all legal procedures, met technical requirements, completed commercial contractual procedures, and signed the service licensing agreement in early January, so that the Communications Corporation becomes an authorized agent for Starlink Company in Yemeni lands.

He explained that during the next phase, work will be done to correct the status of devices currently operating on the international system, and that the service is now available to everyone, and the extent to which the reception service has improved with high efficiency will be evaluated.

He pointed out that our country will be in the orbit of official coverage of the satellite Internet service, starting next October, as everyone will notice that the geographical location of Yemen has become apparent on the coverage map on the Starlink website, in a light color after it had previously appeared in a dark color.

Engineer Tarmoum pointed out that various services will be provided through approved points of sale affiliated with the institution, which are now ready to operate in most of the liberated governorates, and that their numbers will be increased if there is a need for that, and sales of devices with the latest specifications and at prices suitable for everyone will be launched.

He explained that there will be four packages with different main speeds that allow the user to choose what suits him at reasonable prices, stressing that the institution will take all legal measures against shops and promoters of service requests on social media sites.

Tarmoum also warned violators that their devices would be confiscated, warning citizens against committing violations so that they would not be subject to any fines.
