Al-Qushaybi... Knight of the First Leap

Our Writers| 25 July, 2024 - 9:35 PM

A decade has passed since that dark and dark night in the lives of Yemenis, in which one of the nation's lamps went out and one of the country's fortresses fell. This is a story from an unforgettable time whose hero was Hamid Al-Qushaybi within the walls of Amran Governorate.

The collective memory of Yemenis preserves the details and events of the night of July 8, 2014, the tenth anniversary of which passed a few days ago. It was a night in which Yemen’s guard and knight, Brigadier General Hamid Al-Qushaybi, rose to fame as a glorious martyr, betrayed by betrayals from the leadership of the authority and the people of spite, after he faced the enemy and betrayal and went on steadfast in his loyalty and covenants with... Some of his loyal comrades are defenders of the Republic, its goals and principles, against which the Houthis declared war and led the coup.

Al-Qushaybi and his companions were the most loving, loyal, and loyal men of Yemen to the homeland when they alone confronted the returning Imamate in its new version represented by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, which was marching to overthrow the state with some of its looted tools and weapons, until it invaded the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, on September 21, 2014.

On the anniversary of the martyrdom of the hero of Yemen, Brigadier General Al-Qushaybi, we recall matters not as a matter of lamentation, but rather as motivation towards continuing the struggle and correcting what we did wrong in the past. Remembrance of Al-Qushaybi and his heroism with his companions makes us draw inspiration from them in the spirit of struggle and rare loyalty to the homeland, and also makes us stand before questions that should not pass without being raised by the Yemenis. On themselves, where was their position on Al-Qushaybi when he was defending the country and protecting the Republic?

And where is their position today regarding his past approach? Then what if time returned after everything that happened, would the Yemenis leave Al-Qushaybi alone? We hope that the leaders of the state and the political forces have learned the lesson well and have become more loyal to the principles and goals of the republic, and more united and aligned to protect the country and its gains and to protect the glorious Yemeni revolution that announced the birth of the republic nearly seven decades ago.

We currently realize that everyone is now fighting in the Republican ranks, whether those whose position was with Al-Qushaybi, or those who joined during the past years, after being allied with the Houthi militias until late 2017. The majority of them realized their mistake and loyally proceeded with the two races steadfast on the principles of the September and October revolutions. The two glorious ones.

Al-Qushaybi is not a soldier who had the honor of the first confrontation, but rather an idea that is being renewed. After him, there were Abdul-Rab Al-Shaddadi, Abdul-Ghani Shaalan in Ma’rib, Brigadier General Adnan Al-Hammadi in Taiz, Major General Ahmed Saif Al-Yafei, and heroes of the popular resistance from among the tribesmen, and just as Yemen gave birth to these men, there is no doubt. It is the birth of true leaders and heroes loyal to their country, whether military or political, who will be the people’s hope for protecting their gains and principles.

Remembering the heroes is a moment of Yemeni self-searching, which can make history in a state of despair, and they tell us about the missing link in the development of the paths of the national struggle to restore the state and the republic.
