Security forces suppressed, on Wednesday, a protest stand carried out by dozens of teachers in Shabwa Governorate, to demand their rights and financial dues.

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) called for an end to the suffering of teachers in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, whose salaries have been suspended for more than seven years, as a new phase of strike begins in Sana’a.

Today, Tuesday, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, directed the disbursement of two months’ salary to education contractors in the governorate.

Advisor to the Minister of Education, Abdulaziz Sultan, said that the whole world is celebrating World Teachers' Day today, by promoting teachers, honoring them, and improving their conditions, while in Yemen we have more than 250,000 teachers without salaries and without any rights.

The Yemeni Network for Victims' Associations called on all parties, especially the Houthi group, to assume their responsibilities towards teachers and work to end their suffering, pay their salaries, and provide appropriate conditions for them to perform their vital role in building a prosperous Yemeni society.

The Yemeni Teachers Syndicate said that the Yemeni teacher has been living for 9 years in a tragic financial situation that has exceeded the levels of suffering and pain, calling on the international community to exert pressure on the Houthi group to restore the payment of all salaries that teachers were deprived of in the areas under its control, retroactively and on an ongoing basis.
