Iran International website revealed today, Tuesday, that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been organizing a large-scale training course for Tehran’s agents from the Houthi group for 10 days in a base located 110 kilometers southeast of Tehran, near Varamin.

The website explained that the final stage of this training course is currently taking place with the participation of about 300 members of Palestinian and Yemeni groups in the "Shahid Shabani" camp near Varamin.

Sources were quoted as saying that the content of the training indicated an offensive nature, aiming to prepare these forces to carry out armed operations on the orders of the Iranian regime, explaining that these trainings include exercises in guerrilla warfare, ground attacks, occupying buildings, taking hostages, using weapons and making bombs.

Media reports indicate that the Shahid Shabani base, located near the road to Kavir National Park, has for years been a major training center for proxy forces for the Iranian regime.

He said that most of the participants in these trainings came from Lebanon, Yemen, the Gaza Strip, and Syria, and returned to their countries after the course ended. While a number of these elements stayed for longer periods in Iran to train on more complex techniques, such as assembling and using advanced weapons.

Other information indicates that the armed elements trained in Iran enjoy high loyalty to the Iranian regime, as they consider Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei their leader, and manage their activities based on the instructions of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force in the region.

The British newspaper The Telegraph reported on January 11, 2024, citing intelligence sources, that about 200 Yemeni Houthi elements were trained at Khamenei University of Marine Sciences and Technology in Zibaknar.

This training course lasted for 6 months, with the aim of preparing proxy forces, including the Houthis, for battles and naval operations. The history of the formation, equipping and training of Islamic armed groups in the region by the Iranian regime extends back a long time.

This comes at a time when Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that "the Houthis in Yemen do not listen to the orders of the Iranian government."

"The Iranian government is not seeking to expand the war in the Middle East, and it is not that the Houthis are waiting in Yemen for us to tell them what to do or not to do," Pezeshkian added during a press conference with American media in New York.

He continued: "Even within our country, there are those who disagree with us and have their own beliefs. We are trying to prevent extremism and ill-considered actions within our country. How can we control those outside who are driven by their beliefs and feelings? They cannot listen to us."

"We are ready to lay down all our weapons, provided that Israel does the same," Pezeshkian said, adding: "Let us work together to avoid war. Things that can be solved through dialogue should not be solved with missiles and weapons. Let us help bring peace and security to the world. We are ready, we do not want war."
