The United States of America has renewed its commitment to supporting the Yemeni government, in order to ensure the stability of the economic situation in the country.

This was stated by the US envoy to Yemen, Lenderking, during his meeting with the Yemeni Minister of Finance, Salem bin Braik, on Friday, in the US capital, Washington, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).

According to the official agency, the meeting, which was attended by our country's ambassador to Washington, Mohammed Al-Hadrami, discussed the latest developments in public finances, the repercussions of the economic war waged by the terrorist Houthi militia against the Yemeni people, and aspects of joint action to address the existing economic crisis.

The Minister of Finance explained that the economic war has similar effects and repercussions on the citizen to the effects of military war, stressing that the priority at the present time is to support public finances, address the repercussions of the decline in the value of the currency, and maintain the stability of institutions and services.

Minister Bin Braik praised the American humanitarian and technical support, stressing that the economy represents the main gateway to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which has been exacerbated by the terrorist Houthi militia attacks in the Red Sea and the subsequent disruption of supply chains, as well as the Houthi militia’s violations against relief organizations and workers and the disruption of many vital programs.

For his part, the US envoy stressed his country's government's commitment to supporting the government and its keenness to enhance its performance and stabilize the economic situation.

Over the past few days, the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen held several meetings with leaders of the International Monetary Fund and American officials, as part of mobilizing international support to confront the financial crisis the government is suffering from as a result of the repercussions of the Houthi attacks on oil production and export facilities.
