On Thursday, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, discussed with the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, "the urgent need for a constructive dialogue to de-escalate" in the country.

This came during a meeting between them in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden (south), according to a statement issued by the UN envoy, which he published on the Telegram platform.

Grundberg said that he "concluded today (Thursday) a visit to Aden, where he met with the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and exchanged views on the urgent need for constructive dialogue aimed at de-escalation on a broader scale throughout Yemen," without specifying the duration of the visit.

During the meeting, Grundberg "expressed his concern about the situation of the 17 UN employees detained (by the Houthis)."

He renewed "the call made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations (Antonio Guterres) for their immediate release," according to the same statement, without further details.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the UN envoy concluded a visit to Muscat (of an indefinite duration), during which he met with Omani officials, in addition to the chief negotiator of the Houthi group, Mohammed Abdul Salam.
