Angry protests in Mukalla
On Monday evening, the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate, witnessed widespread protests denouncing the deterioration of electricity services.
Angry protesters blocked the main road linking Mukalla to cars and burned tires in protest against the continuous power outages.
Local sources confirmed that security forces fired live bullets into the air, while angry youth responded by throwing stones at security forces.
This comes in conjunction with the announcement of a general strike by Hadhramout University students in protest of the deterioration of living services and the rise in transportation prices in the governorate.
