Yemeni Interior: We have not yet received coercive orders to arrest those accused of kidnapping and hiding Lieutenant Colonel Ashal fleeing outside the country.

The Yemeni Ministry of Interior confirmed that the judicial authorities have not yet issued coercive arrest warrants against the seven accused of kidnapping and disappearing Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal who fled outside the country.

A security source in the ministry said in a statement published by the security media, "The ministry has not, to date, obtained any coercive external arrest warrants against the seven defendants, who are accused of several crimes, including kidnapping, murder, and participating in armed gangs, most notably the kidnapping of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal."

The source added that the Ministry’s Communications Division and the International Interpol Office had addressed His Excellency the Public Prosecutor to issue coercive external arrest warrants and provide Interpol with complete data on the accused based on their identification documents and a brief summary of the accused’s cases.

The Ministry indicated in its explanatory statement that the coercive arrest orders that were issued were coercive arrest orders inside Yemen and not outside it, against the defendants (Yusran Hamza Taher Muhammad Al-Maqtari, Samih Aidaroos Abdul Rahman Al-Nurji, Tammam Muhammad Ghaleb Hassan, Mahmoud Othman Saeed Ali, Ahmed Muhammad bin Muhammad Zaidan, and Samer Salem Saeed Faraj Al-Jandab, and Bakil Mukhtar Muhammad Saeed Al-Asbahi).

The Ministry confirmed that, in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and relevant authorities, it will continue its efforts to track down the wanted persons wherever they are, with the aim of bringing them to justice to receive deterrent punishment and serve as an example to others.

At the beginning of this month, the Director of Aden Police, Major General Mutahar Al-Shuaibi, revealed the results of investigations into the case of the kidnapping of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Abdullah Ashal Al-Jaadani, confirming that the commander of the so-called anti-terrorism force of the Transitional Council, Yusran Al-Maqtari, was behind the crime, pointing out that Interpol had been contacted to arrest him and his deputy after they escaped. Al-Shuaibi said that he “lifted the arrest warrant issued against the above defendants and sent a memorandum to His Excellency the Minister of Interior to arrest them through the Department of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation at Interpol regarding addressing the relevant authorities in the countries where the fugitive defendants are located and handing them over to the national authorities. The aforementioned defendants were also circulated to all Land, sea and air ports and to all governorates to arrest them and hand them over to the security authorities in the capital, Aden.”

He stated, “The Director General of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation communicated with His Excellency the Judge General in this regard, and accordingly the investigation committee is still continuing to collect evidence in this case and make supplementary reports based on the directives of the Public Prosecution, as well as following up and apprehending the fugitive defendants in the face of justice.” .
