MASAM: 829 Houthi mines and ammunition removed during the past week

The Masam Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen announced that its field teams were able to remove 829 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during the past week from several Yemeni governorates.

The Masam Project Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 829 explosive materials during the past week (October 12-18), including 777 unexploded ordnance, 49 anti-tank mines, two explosive devices, and an anti-personnel mine, bringing the total number of items removed in the period from October 1 to October 18 to 3,308.

The statement said that the project teams cleared 184,610 square metres during the same period, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 697,974 square metres.

He pointed out that since the launch of the project at the end of June 2018 until October 18, the MASAM project teams have identified and destroyed 466,711 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices in the liberated areas of Yemen.
