The Israeli occupation army said that it had launched a large-scale military operation targeting militants in Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas in the occupied West Bank, while Palestinian resistance factions announced that they had confronted the incursions and carried out qualitative operations.

The official Israeli radio confirmed that the operation launched by the army in the northern West Bank is the largest since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, and that it is being carried out with the participation of the Air Force and large forces.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the military operation was extensive and at the level of a military division. It said that the Israeli internal security service (Shabak) and undercover forces joined the army in its operations, adding that the army is using helicopters and fighter jets extensively in its military operation.

Channel 14 Israel said that the army has mobilized thousands of soldiers from special units in preparation for the large-scale operation in the northern West Bank, and that special units from the army, the border guards, and a unit affiliated with the Shin Bet are participating in the operation. It confirmed that a large number of soldiers arrived at the Far'a camp in Tubas on board military helicopters.

For his part, Al Jazeera's correspondent said that the military operation is being carried out with the participation of various army units and with the support of helicopters and drones, and includes Jenin, Tubas and Tulkarm, and that resistance fighters targeted the occupation forces with locally-made, highly explosive explosive devices in the vicinity of Nour Shams camp in Tulkarm.

The reporter also spoke about clashes and explosions with explosive devices in the towns of Salem, Qasra, and Beit Furik, south and east of the city of Nablus, as well as in the city of Tubas and the Far'a camp, and also in the city and camp of Jenin and the towns of Silat al-Harithiya and Qabatiya.

In the same context, the Al-Quds Brigades, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that "our mujahideen targeted an enemy infantry force with a highly explosive device in the Nour Shams camp."

The Qassam Brigades-Jenin, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced that its fighters "are engaged in violent clashes with the occupation forces alongside their brothers in the military wings of the resistance factions." It added that the fighters "detonated highly explosive, locally-made explosive devices in Jenin against the invading military vehicles."

Martyr and wounded

Earlier, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the death of a Palestinian and the injury of three others, one of whom was critically injured, when the occupation forces stormed the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said that armed clashes broke out late Tuesday evening after Israeli special units were discovered in Jenin camp.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that a young man was injured by Israeli army bullets in the vicinity of Khalil Suleiman Governmental Hospital in Jenin.

The West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967, has witnessed an escalation in incursions, but the situation has escalated further since Israel launched its devastating and ongoing war 10 months ago on the Gaza Strip.

According to official Palestinian sources, Israeli attacks on the residents of the West Bank have left more than 640 martyrs and about 5,400 wounded since October 7.
